Gamma Scintigraphy [Bone Scan]

The clinic has introduced the use of gamma scintigraphy [bone scanning] in recent years. The gamma camera is mounted on a gantry in a dedicated scintigraphy room which allows images to be obtained over the whole of the horse's body. Scanning is routinely performed with radioactive isotope produced for us at Addenbrookes Hospital. The majority of procedures are performed on sedated horses.
